23 join inaugural San Antonio caging

Twenty-three teams spread in three divisions will see action in the inaugural San Antonio Community Action Network Basketball League that will kick off tomorrow at the San Antonio court.

The Open division has the most squads with 10, while the Masters and U18 categories will feature eight and five teams, respectively.

Armatech leads the cast in the Open division and will be joined by MGD, GMJ, Pacific Islands Club, KB Market, Ali’i/Blue Haus, 5 Star Construction, Ask Y U B, the Sonics, and Donnel Isip’s team. Armatech also has an entry in the Masters division and will battle the division crown against Blue Haus, MGD-GPPC, Bammy’s Restaurant, KB Market, GMJ, CES Electronics, and one more squad that has yet to be named.

Armatech has a third team, which will compete in the U18 division along with Ferrera Builders, Armatech, Sonics, KB Market, and GMI.

Squads in the U18 division will kick off the action in the inaugural caging after the opening ceremony set for 5pm. League coordinator Boy Garcia is asking participating teams to be at the venue for the opening ceremony by 4:30pm. The first match of the season is expected to start at 6pm and it will be followed by an Open division pairing around 8pm. Teams playing in the opening day will be announced after the opening ceremony. Garcia added they are now working on the playing days per division.
