Rota will stage today its annual Agricultural Fair that is expected to attract a huge number of the island municipality’s farmers and ranchers.
Best Sunshine International, Ltd. is supporting the event for local livestock growers and farmers, which is going to be held on the eve of the annual feast of San Isidro, the patron saint for farmers.
According to Rota Mayor Efraim Atalig, the support of BSI will allow local farmers and livestock growers the opportunity to showcase their produce and livestock and at the same time participate in friendly competitions.
The Rota municipality has reached out to BSI to seek support and assistance, and among others, to finance the cost for prizes for the livestock competition, produce competition, and games.
“We look forward for a successful Agricultural Fair—and I just want to thank Best Sunshine for their support. This helps a lot,” Atalig said.
He added, “On behalf of the people of Rota and our local municipal leadership, we extend our sincere appreciation to Best Sunshine.”
The Rota Agricultural Fair has been an annual island-wide festivity since the 1990s.
Rota Lands and Natural Resources director David Calvo said they are expecting increased participation in today’s agricultural fair.
“There will be a lot of farmers that will come out. They will showcase their products. We are fortunate that despite two typhoons, some of our farmers and (livestock growers) survived and are back on their feet,” Calvo separately said.
“Thank you Best Sunshine for supporting our Rota farmers,” he added.
