218 new cases; 10 hospitalized

A total of 218 additional COVID-19 cases have been reported in the last three days, bringing the CNMI’s total to 10,074 cases since March 26, 2020.

The latest report from the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., which was issued Saturday, said that 75 individuals were confirmed positive on March 4, 2022, with four of them identified on Tinian.

Before that, on Friday, CHCC said that 77 individuals were confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 3, 2022. Thirteen cases were identified on Tinian and 12 on Rota.

CHCC reported late Thursday that 66 individuals have been confirmed positive for COVID-19. Of that number, 59 were identified on March 2, 2022, and seven were identified prior to March 2, 2022. Four were identified on Tinian and four on Rota.

The vaccination statuses of all 218 cases were pending verification. 

CHCC also reported that, as of March 5, 2022, there were 10 individuals hospitalized as a result of COVID-19: one unvaccinated, eight vaccinated, and one partially vaccinated. One of the 10 is on a ventilator.

CHCC also clarified that some duplicates in the tally of positive cases have been deleted. 

Of the total cases that have been identified in the CNMI, as of March 4, 2022, there have been 9,481 recoveries; 563 active cases; and 30 COVID-19-related deaths. A total of 9,388 of these cases were identified via community testing and 686 via travel testing.

A total of 98 COVID-19 vaccine shots were administered on March 5, 2022; of the eligible population, 57.3% have already received an additional dose. The vaccination rate is calculated using the 2020 Census population estimates for the CNMI and includes the eligible 5-years-old and older population and was recently corrected. 

A total of 469 COVID-19 tests were conducted on March 4, 2022: 424 via Community-Based Testing; 44 at Koblerville COVID-19 Community Center; and one at the Rota Health Center. (Saipan Tribune)
