If the two Jonny’s teams won’t make their move, any of the three squads supported by Jokers Bar & Grill may end up as the champion of the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball Tuesday League.
The Jokers Destroyers are currently on top of the heap after games last Tuesday night with a 32-20 won-loss record followed closely by the IT&E Voyagers’ 31-21 slate. Two games behind at third are the Docomo Hustlers (29-23).
The StraighBlackBall, the fourth Jokers team, are tied with the Jonny’s Crazy 8 with 22-30 cards, while the Jonny’s Titans complete the six-team field at 20-32.
The Crazy 8 and the Titans still have 16 weeks left to make their move if they hope to dislodge the leaders on top.
The Destroyers last Tuesday made short work of the Titans behind the brilliant games of Rico Montano and Cesar Sangalang, who combined for eight of their team’s nine wins.
Their team up also resulted into two wins in the Partner’s 8-ball event with Montano going 2-1 in the singles while Sangalang went 2-0.
Nolan Cultura, the team captain, and Jeff Garcia were the other members of the Destroyers.
The Titans are composed of Patrick Cepeda, Ray Matsunaga, John Reyes, Randy Sablan, and Jack Thornsaket.
The Voyagers also scored a 9-4 win over the Crazy 8 while the Hustlers trounced the StraightBlackBall, 8-5.
Action in the Tuesday League continues on Dec. 1 with the top-ranked Destroyers taking on the Voyagers, the current second placer. The Hustlers will be hosting the Titans, while the StraighBlackBall will visit the Crazy 8 in the other scheduled matches.
There will be no Thursday League games today, Thanksgiving Day. Matches will resume on Dec. 3 with the anticipated match up between co-leaders National and Homeboyz.
The Rack ‘N’ Roll will also host the WIldBoyz, while Team SCS will go up against the Wild Wild West in the other schedule games.
The Tuesday League will run for four months with the final week to be held on March 15, while the Thursday League will end on April 7, 2016.
