CUC’s auto pay and online payment services are temporarily unavailable
The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. is currently unable to offer online and auto payment services to its customers as a result of the ongoing communications difficulties facing the CNMI.
In lieu of online and auto payments, CUC customers are asked to visit the Dandan Customer Service Center and make payments with cash, check, or credit and debit cards until the damage to IT&E’s undersea cable is repaired.
CUC has approximately 400 customers who make their monthly utility payments through its auto pay service and about 3,000 customers who make their monthly utility payment through its website, www.cucgov.org.
Acting CUC executive director John Riegel said the inability to provide online and auto payment services is a temporary situation.
“It is unfortunate that we are unable to provide our customers with electronic payment options at this time, but these services will resume as soon as the communications are restored,” Riegel said.
CUC will attempt to contact its auto pay customers; “however we understand the current situation may preclude us from doing so successfully in all cases.”
CUC chief financial officer Matthew Yaquinto said CUC customers will be extended additional consideration in light of recent events.
“Our customers will not be penalized because of the communication outage. Any fees associated with the communications issues will not be assessed. We will give our customers extra time to make their payments and not disconnect them because of the outage,” Yaquinto said.
