KOLONIA, Pohnpei—A new group of Peace Corps trainees, group M81, arrived in Pohnpei on Thursday, June 4. The 19 volunteers were excited to arrive and are ready to learn about serving in the FSM. They will serve for two years as Teaching English as Second Language (TESL) teachers in elementary schools across FSM and Palau. Their mission is to build capacity and transfer skills to local teachers and students.

The M81 group will stay in Pohnpei for 10 weeks for their Pre-Service Training in preparation for placement in their assigned schools. PST will be held at Pohnpei Agriculture and Trade School in Madolenihmw, where the trainees will undergo intensive training sessions in TESL, language, cross-culture, medical, safety, and security to prepare themselves for working and living as Peace Corps volunteers in FSM.

In mid-August, they will be sworn in and placed in their permanent sites. (U.S. Embassy Kolonia)
