2014 Bud Light Luta Fishing Derby on Oct. 10-11

The 2014Bud Light Rota Fishing Derby will be held on Oct. 10 and 11 with cash prizes awaiting the winners in three categories: wahoo, yellow fin, and bonita tuna. A grand prize of $10,000 also awaits the first marlin that weighs 501lbs or more.

Registration forms, rules, and additional details are available under the Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA) online Calendar of Events at www.mymarianas.com. Participants must register with the 14th Rota Municipal Council Office. Registration will be open until Oct. 9 at the derby site. Registration is $100 per boat, including one captain and one angler. Each additional angler is $25.

Cash prizes in each category are: 1st place, $400; 2nd place, $300; 3rd place, $200; and 4th place, $100.

All participating boats must observe safe boating rules and regulations. The Department of Public Safety’s Boating Safety Unit may be contacted at 1.670.532.9490 to conduct a boat safety inspection within a week prior to the event.

Orientation will be held on Oct. 9 at West Dock Marina at 6 pm, while launching will be at 6am on Oct. 10 and 11 at West Dock Marina. Participants wishing to register their catch must be at West Dock Marina by 6pm on Oct. 10 and 5pm on Oct. 11.

Tournament fee also includes entrance to the awards banquet which will be held at 6:30pm on Oct. 11.
