The 2012 Marianas March Against Cancer hosted a luncheon on May 30 to honor the sponsors and teams that have supported the annual cancer fundraising event since its inception in 2002.
The luncheon, held at the Chalan Kanoa Beach Hotel, recognized title sponsors Bank of Guam, DFS Saipan, Ltd., IT&E, Joeten Charitable Foundation, and Sorensen Media Group Saipan.
Major sponsors were also acknowledged at the event, namely Hopwood Jr. High School, IP&E, Saipan Mayor’s Office, and Younis Art Studio.
The committee also paid tribute to longest participating teams Ahu, Bodig, and Pacific Islands Club.
Overall committee chair Catherine Attao-Toves said each of the invited sponsors and teams were given a plaque thanking them for their support in the fight against cancer for the past decade.
“We look forward to their continued support in the years ahead,” she added.
MMAC is the signature fundraising event of the Commonwealth Cancer Association, a volunteer-led non-profit organization that ensures all funds raised are spent entirely in the CNMI on cancer patient support services, awareness programs, and other activities.
This year’s MMAC, held at the Hopwood Jr. High School grounds on April 27 to 28, raised about $111,470 in monetary and in-kind contributions.
