The Guam Power Authority is shipping power poles to Saipan to assist in local power restoration efforts.

Right now, CUC is without any spare power poles after all power poles in stock were wiped in recent restoration efforts.

Acting CUC executive director John Riegel confirmed yesterday that GPA is shipping over poles. According to him, 200 poles are expected.

“Ninety [poles] will be here by Saturday,” he said. “The ones coming here this weekend are concrete [power poles].

The U.S. Department of Energy also reports that wooden poles from GPA stockpiles in Guam are in the process of receiving airlift transport to Saipan.

Typhoon Soudelor brought down 48 percent of Saipan’s power grid.

GPA delivered—via the USS Ashland—poles, insulators, wires, splices, and insulators, bolts, among others, in the thousands on Tuesday.

They also sent several bucket and Ford trucks.
