The Jokers Homeboyz and National Alamo Car Rental are currently locked in a tight battle for control in the Budweiser-Saipan Basketball Association Open 8-Ball Thursday League.
The Homeboyz and Alamo have alternately occupied the top ranking with the former now holding a slim one-game lead at 71-46 against the 70-47 of the latter.
The Jokers WildBoyz remains within striking distance of the leader at 64-53, while the Wild Bill’s Wild Wild West is a far fourth at 54-63. Wild Bill’s Rack ‘N’ Roll (48-69) and the Jonny’s Team SCS (44-73) complete the standings.
Alamo would have regained the top spot but could only manage a tight 8-7 win over the Homeboyz in their highly anticipated showdown last week. The Alamo and Homeboyz did not disappoint with the Boyet Sequioco-captained quintet completing the win in the final Partner’s 8-Ball match. Joseph Achas and Manny Mariano delivered the final win, breaking the 6-6 tie by beating Nolan Cultura and Rick Elefante.
The WildBoyz squeezed out a 7-6 win over the Rack ‘N’ Roll, while the Wild Wild West scored an 8-5 decision over Team SCS in the other games.
Meanwhile, matches today will have the Alamo facing the Rack ‘N’ Roll, the Homeboyz taking on the Wild Wild West, and the WildBoyz clashing with Team SCS.
In the Tuesday League, the Jokers IT&E Voyagers continue to enjoy their view from the top with a 101-55 card and are followed by their sister squads Destroyers (81-75) and Docomo Hustlers (78-78) at second and third spots.
The Jonny’s Titans and the StraightBlackBall, another Jo-kers-backed squad, are tied at 73-83, while the Jonny’s Crazy 8 bring up the rear at 62-94,
The Voyagers and the Destroyers both completed 8-5 wins over the Titans and the StraightBlackBall, while the Hustlers pulled off a 9-4 triumph against the Crazy 8.
The Destroyers were playing against the Hustlers at press time so were the Voyagers against the StraighBlackBall and the Crazy 8 over the Titans.
