The husband-and-wife pairs of Joshua and Mamiko Berger and Bruce and Yurie Lorange completed last weekend’s Honolulu Triathlon.
Joshua was the fastest among the four Saipan participants, finishing the 1.5-kilometer swim leg, 40K bike race, and 10K run in 2:50:50, a personal best time for the 61-year-old triathlete. He clocked in at 32:23 in the swim leg held in the waters of the Pacific Ocean at Ala Moana Beach Park, 1:14:54 in the bike portion from Magic Island to Ala Moana Beach Park, and 57:39 in the run part that took place inside the waterfront park to place eighth out of the 24 participants in his age group (60 to 64)
“I had to build an enormous lead on the bike so Mamiko would not try to run me down,” Joshua said in an email to Saipan Tribune.
