2 Programmatic Agreement Memos for Marine Corps realignment projects
PITI, Guam—Naval Facilities Engineering Command Marianas announced the start of a 45-day public comment phase for two Programmatic Agreement Memos associated with Marine Corps Realignment projects on Guam. PA Memos provide an opportunity for interested members of the public to participate in the
Section 106 consultation process required under the National Historic Preservation Act.
Public comments will be accepted through Aug. 2, 2016 (Chamorro Standard Time) for PA Memo #1: Salvage and Transplantation of Federally Listed Plant Species for Utilities and Site Improvements Phase I at Naval Base
Guam Telecommunications Site (NBGTS), and PA Memo #2: Water Phase 2 (Water Well Development Studies) at Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB).
Interested members of the community may submit comments to criwebcomment@navy.mil. Hard copy comments may be submitted to the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) at the Guam Historic Resources Division Office, 490 Chalan Palasyo, Agana Heights.
PA Memo #1 for Salvage and Transplantation of Federally Listed Plant Species proposes the relocation of protected plants found within the Department of Defense (DoD) lands on Guam to the northern Finegayan Forest Enhancement area. The proposed project scope includes small excavations to reestablish and maintain the relocated plants.
PA Memo #2 for Water Well Development Studies proposes geotechnical work within the Agafa Gumas basin areas of AAFB to identify areas that may yield a reliable average daily potable water supply to support personnel, facilities and operations in the realignment.
