2 men arrested in separate domestic violence cases
A man allegedly beat up his wife and threatened to kill their two children, while another man hit his wife in the head and threatened to stab her in separate domestic violence incidents on Saipan last week.
Alejandro Laniyo Tebit, 28, was arrested for assault and battery and disturbing the peace, while Aaron Joseph Satur Rabauliman, 38, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, assault, and disturbing the peace.
At a hearing on Monday, a $5,000 cash bail was imposed on Tebit; a $10,000 cash bail was imposed on Rabauliman. Preliminary hearing for Tebit and Rabauliman will be on May 9 at 1:30pm.
Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for both defendants. Assistant attorney general Jonathan Wilberscheid appeared for the government.
According to police, Tebit confronted his wife around midnight of April 22 soon after she arrived home after a night out with her sister. An argument ensued. Tebit then alleged punched his wife several times and allegedly strangled her and pulled her hair.
Last Friday, the victim received a phone call from Tebit, saying he would kill their two children. That prompted her to ask for police assistance. Officers retrieved the youngest child unharmed. Police arrested Tebit that day.
In Rabauliman’s case, a woman called police last Friday and reported that her husband, Rabauliman, hit her head, held her down on the bed and threatened to kill her.
