»Some stolen jewelry recovered from pawnshops; 1 suspect admits he blew money playing poker
Police arrested two men Monday afternoon for allegedly burglarizing a house in As Teo and stealing assorted jewelry and other items.
Gorjonny V. Camacho, 21, was arrested for burglary, theft, and conspiracy, while George Grover, 22, was apprehended for conspiracy and receiving stolen property.
Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed yesterday $5,000 cash and $45,000 unsecured bond each for the two suspects’ temporary release.
Preliminary hearing will be on May 20 at 1:30pm.
According to police detective Catherine B. Pangelinan, Camacho admitted to police that he burglarized the house and that Grover served as a lookout.
Pangelinan said that Camacho also confessed to pawning some of the stolen jewelry in two pawnshops and that he blew all the money at Bobbie’s Poker in Gualo Rai.
Pangelinan said some of the stolen items were recovered from the pawnshops.

At the hearing, assistant public defender Benjamin Petersburg appeared as counsel for Grover. A private counsel will be appointed for Camacho.
Detective Pangelinan stated in her report that a police officer responded to a house in As Teo on April 11, 2014, in response to a report of a burglary.
Pangelinan said the stolen items were some jewelry worth $3,000, two iPods, two Fossil watches, two cell phones, and an unspecified amount of cash.
Pangelinan said that Camacho’s sister later appeared at the Commonwealth Bureau of Investigation on May 5, 2014, where she reported that Camacho and Grover were behind the As Teo burglary.
The next day, Pangelinan said, a witness disclosed that he saw Camacho and Grover on the day of the burglary, holding several pieces of jewelry. The witness said he transported Camacho and Grover to a pawnshop in San Vicente and another pawnshop in Garapan.
That same day, May 6, Camacho appeared at the CBI Office and confessed it was him who burglarized the house and that Grover stayed in the jungle upon his instruction.
Camacho reportedly told police that he entered the house through a small, unlocked window. Pangelinan said that Camacho stated he knows the way inside the house because he used to go there when he was a child.
Pangelinan said she and another detective proceeded to a pawnshop in San Vicente, where they recovered some of the stolen jewelry—a gold pendant and three pairs of earrings.
Camacho was named as the seller of the jewelry for $150.
Two other detectives went to a pawnshop in Garapan where they recovered two gold necklaces pawned by Camacho on April 11, 2014, in the amount of $600 and $220.
The victim identified all the jewelry recovered from the pawnshops as her property.
Police also searched Camacho’s house in As Teo and Grover’s apartment in Gualo Rai, where other stolen jewelry and items were seized.
The police report did not state whether the victim’s other items were recovered during the search.
