2 injured in Gualo Rai vehicular head-on collision
Two persons were injured during a head-on collision by two vehicles along Chalan Pale Arnold Road near the Shell Gasoline Station in Gualo Rai on Friday night.
A 39-year-old Palauan male, who was the driver of one vehicle, complained of dizziness and sustained a laceration to his face. His passenger, a 41-year-old Palauan female, sustained a laceration to the head.
Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services emergency medical technicians examined and treated the two victims, then transported them to the Commonwealth Healthcare Center’s emergency room.
DFEMS spokesman Derek Gersonde said yesterday that the two occupants of the second vehicle were not injured and refused to undergo medical examination.
Gersonde said that DFEMS received on Friday at 8:31pm a call from the Department of Public Safety 911 dispatch about a vehicular crash near the Shell Gas Station in Gualo Rai.
Gersonde said medics from Koblerville Fire Station and Rescue team from Susupe Fire Station responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, emergency medical technicians came upon two vehicles that had collided head on.
Gersonde said EMTs applied precautions by applying a cervical collar and using a spine board to stabilize the injured victims’ neck and spine as well as controlling the bleeding.
Gersonde referred to DPS any information regarding the vehicles and or cause of the accident.
As of press time, DPS had yet to release information about the crash.
