Two habitual offenders each received a sentence of five years imprisonment in Superior Court last week for illegal possession of methamphetamine or “ice.”

Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced Ivan Jones Castro to five years for two counts of illegal possession of a controlled substance. He also sentenced Jeffrey T. Deleon Guerrero to a five-year prison term for illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Castro, 40, and Deleon Guerrero, 42, would serve their sentences without the possibility of parole. They were given credit for time served. Each were ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.

The court issued a verdict last Oct. 11 adjudging Castro guilty of two counts of illegal possession of a controlled substance in two cases. Both incidents happened on Saipan.

In Deleon Guerrero’s case, he pleaded guilty to illegal possession.
