VOICES of the CNMI Tinian Chapter and TEAM KOKA, both not-for-profit and self-advocacy and awareness for individuals with disabilities, wish to acknowledge all their benefactors for supporting their annual events such the summer camp, youth basketball tournament, Glow Walk, Tree of Angels, and awareness events. This year’s events would have not been possible without wonderful people like you.

The groups said they continue to ask for the abovementioned entities’ support in this coming year so that they can make lasting impressions for individuals with disabilities.

VOICES of the CNMI Tinian Chapter and TEAM KOKA will be holding the International Day of Acceptance honoring Annie Hopkins who died on Jan. 20, 2009 with simple medical procedure. She refused to accept her physical limitations from living a full, exciting, independent life that she wanted. She founded 3E Love to make the world a better place, also creating the International Symbol of Acceptance, which shows a wheelchair in the shape of a heart.

To quote 3E Love: “Friends, tell the world you embrace who you are; a person with social rights, who has an opinion, who has interests, who has goals and who loves life; a person who is empowered to make a difference in the world and not be without a voice in society. You are not living disabled, you are living.”

VOICES of the CNMI Tinian Chapter and TEAM KOKA will be having a dinner and silent auction on Jan. 20.

They will also be selling five different color awareness ribbons “Ribbon for A Reason” indicating certain types disabilities.
