Over 1,000 library cards were issued last year, topping the total number of library cards issued in 2013, according to Joeten Kiyu Public Library’s circulation supervisor Ray Deleon Guerrero.

He said that 1,659 cards were issued last year through the library and through its Bookmobile program. The library issued 1,149 library cards in 2013.

The month with the most library cards issued last year was in November, totaling 178, followed by March with 176; June, 160; October, 156; and December, 150.

The total number of cards issued at the library was 1,171 and while the Bookmobile program doled out a total to 488.

Although the amount collected in penalties for 2014 is not immediately available, Deleon Guerrero said they send patrons with late, overdue, lost, or damaged fees notices twice every two years.

“The limit for each patron notice is up to four and if they do not respond to the notices they will no longer be allowed to borrow items and use the computer section as long as their fines are still pending,” Deleon Guerrero said.

The library currently has 69,693 books and library materials as of December 2014.

About 254 new books and items were recently added to its collection.

Deleon Guerrero said that there are about 37,670 patrons registered in the library system as of December 2014. Back in 2013, a total of 85,721 were registered.
