Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute recently presented certificates of completion to 19 Saipan World Resort interns who completed 24 hours of training during their English Language Development Course at NMC.

During the course students discussed their daily routines and responsibilities while working in the hotel. They were asked to describe personal experiences while carrying out their duties and to demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding while communicating with an English-speaking guest.

“We are glad to collaborate with Saipan World Resort again to provide training activities that help expand the language skills of their staff,” said NMC interim president Frankie Eliptico.

The hotel interns are from the Philippines, Korea, Russia, and China.

Students learned how to improve their workplace English conversation skills, which was taught by instructor Chavel Green. The classes began on Sept. 5, 2018, and were completed on Oct. 3, 2018.

NMC’s Community Development Institute is a program that offers specialized courses and customized trainings in order to meet both the professional development and personal enrichment needs of the community.
