19 Japanese students visit Saipan
Nineteen Japanese students arrived on Saipan on July 28 to participate in a cultural exchange and homestay program.
Saipan Mayor Marian DLG Tudela told Saipan Tribune that she is pleased to see the students and that they will be conducting activities with the mayor’s office.
“This is my first time to be doing a cultural exchange program and homestay since I took office,” Tudela said.
The students, who are under the International Youth Association of Japan/Kokusai Seishonen Kenshu Kyokai, have been with their homestay parents since July 28 and will be leaving on Aug. 4.
According to acting director of operations Joann Aquino in an earlier interview, the students will be entertained by the mayor’s office while the parents will be providing the stay and interaction of culture at their homes.
“The students lunches will be taken cared of when the mayor’s office does the afternoon activities and we will be the ones to conduct the activities,” Aquino said.
The host families will be provide breakfast and dinner.
The students started sightseeing on Tuesday and did swimming activities yesterday, July 30. Today the students will be visiting the Man’Amko Center around 9am as part of the mayor’s office activities for the students.
The students will then go to Managaha Island for recreational swimming, they will spend time with their host families on Saturday and will be hosting a “Sayonara” party at the Minatchom Atdao in Susupe with the families and students before they depart.
In related news, Tudela said there will be a student cultural exchange program in August as well for another group of Japanese students.
