Fernando Cacabelos led the finishers in last Sunday’s 2012 Tinian Tax Day Bike Ride after timing in at 4:05.31.
Cacabelos and 18 others completed the 65-kilometer course that brought bikers to the trail all the way down Riverside Drive located on the western side of the island and some single track and back road trails on Tinian.
Just about six minutes behind Cacabelos was Norlo Jaco Salem, who clocked in at 4:11.44, while Jimmy Cabay rounded out the Top 4 with his 4:12:55.
In the women’s division, Rosalina Lazaro and Marjorie Cabay crossed the finish line together at the 5:23:30 mark to share the top honors in their field. The top placers in each division received $200.
Other finishers were Elgene Shai (4:29:56), Arwin Reyes (4:31:56), Winston Omar (5:10:13), Julian Hofschneider (5:10:39), Vic Cunanan (5:10:40), Edgar Jabino (5:17:08), James Manglona (5:19:47), Zack Hofschneider (5:19:58), Nino Neypes (5:33:32), James Clemente (5:33:32), Romeo Libut (5:57:26), Welma Reyes (6:03:00), Dawn Sarmiento (6:03:23), and Richard Lazaro (6:03:23).
Two other bikers joined the weekend race that started at Suicide Cliff, but unfortunately Gaudencio Neypes and Jose Reyes did not finish due to flat tires.
It was the first time Tinian hosted the Tax Day bike race, which was originally dubbed as April Fools Tinian Bike-a-Thon, and the event was held in preparation for the Tour de Tinian in February next year.
