16 course sections for NMC summer enrollees
The Northern Marianas College disclosed yesterday that it will enroll approximately 210 students in 16 course sections for this school year’s summer classes.
The college pushed back its traditional start date of its summer session by approximately one month from May to June.
Classes for the summer period is slated for six weeks, which began Monday, June 23.
“Our first day of class is now scheduled after the last high school graduation date,” said Manny Castro, NMC admissions director/registrar.
The schedule was developed, he added, “to strategically align with the Public School System schedule and our mutual goals of promoting college enrollment and opportunities for high school students to get a head start toward completing a college degree.”
The college, through funds made available by the College Access Challenge Grant, also offers scholarships to eligible high school juniors, seniors, and first-year college students who enroll during the summer session.
Of more than 200 applicants for a CACG scholarship, it was disclosed that 100 were selected for an award and 60 randomly selected awardees were invited to participate in the CACG Summer Academy.
The CACG Summer Academy participants attend college courses and participate in a variety of college-preparatory and skill-building activities throughout the six-week program.
The CACG Summer Academy activities are facilitated by college staff and student ambassadors who work as a team to provide tutorial support and serve as mentors.
