Some $32,000 worth of prizes are at stake for the 23rd Annual Club 200 event by the American Red Cross-NMI Chapter slated for Oct. 29 at the Fiesta Resort & Spa in Garapan.

“We have our usual great assortment of prizes, from cash prizes, airline tickets and hotel stays to water park passes and dinner certificates,” executive director John Hirsh told Saipan Tribune.

Grand prize is $15,000, according to Hirsh.

Tickets for the biggest fundraising dinner and raffle event of the humanitarian organization’s local chapter are priced at $100 each.

Hirsh said 2,000 tickets were printed for this year’s Club 200 which has the “Fantasy Island Beach Party” theme.

“We didn’t really want to call it a Halloween party but because it’s Fantasy Island, people can come and dress whatever they like. We’re really excited about it. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Hirsh.

Even with the economic recession in the Commonwealth, Hirsh said they remain optimistic that they would sell the event tickets.

“Obviously, we’re up against a big downturn in the economy. But I think people have always turned up for the Red Cross event because they know all the things that we’re doing in our community. Plus people really enjoy the party. It’s always fun. It’s a great time to get together with friends,” he said.

According to Hirsh, this year’s event will feature a live band and a treasure chest just like last year. He disclosed that they are also thinking about doing a silent auction but it’s not yet confirmed.

Hirsh said that while tickets are available at their chapter office along Airport Road, there are sellers that can deliver the tickets in any part of the island.

“If you call us and say you’re in Capitol Hill or Kagman, we can try to find a ticket seller who works or lives in that area and deliver the tickets to you or we’ll have somebody from the office run down and deliver a ticket to you,” he said.

Hirsh urged the community to support the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross. “Please come and support our Club 200 event. Your money stays local here but you’re supporting the Red Cross movement around the world.”
