15 villages represented in MDX caging

The Susupe court will host the MDX caging opening this Sunday. (Roselyn B. Monroyo) Names of the participating squads in the 2011 MDX Amateur Radio Club Inter-Village Friendship League have been announced two days before competition kicks off this weekend at the Civic Center Basketball Court in Susupe.

Teams are named after the various villages on Saipan. Armatech will represent Susupe, while Fong’s Bakery will carry Chalan Kanoa. Others on the list are Garapan of Jhems Restaurant, As Lito of Chow Queen, Koblerville of GEC, San Vicente of the Saints, Gualo Rai of Blue Haus, Dandan of Hawaiian Mawati Rock, Kagman of Destroyers 2011, San Antonio of Bud Brothers, Chalan Laulau of AON Insurance, Chalan Kiya of Pacific Postal, As Perdido of B’Boys, San Roque of Morales, and San Jose of Price Costco. League organizers are still waiting for the village name of one more squad

The 16 participating teams will be divided into two pools and each group will play in a round-robin format in the regular season. After seven games, the Top 4 teams in each pool will move into the crossover playoff round. The playoffs will have a single-elimination format and only the Top 4 teams will be awarded with trophies at the end of the competition.

Games will be played every Saturday at 3:30pm and Sunday at 8am, 10am, 2pm, and 4pm. This Sunday’s opening day will start at 2pm.

Meeting today

Meanwhile, organizers are calling on representatives of participating teams to attend a mandatory meeting today at 5:30pm at the pavilion near the basketball court in Susupe. Final details about the opening ceremonies will be discussed at the meeting.

Organizers are also looking for sponsors of the recreational league.
