120th PH Independence Day kicks off this Sunday

One of the most anticipated festivals of the Filipino community will be held this Sunday, June 10.

In celebration of the 120th Philippine Independence Day, the United Filipino Organizations, in collaboration with the office of the Philippine honorary consul to the CNMI, will be hosting the Independence Day festival, Pistang Pinoy.

Pistang Pinoy will take place on Sunday, June 10, and will include live entertainment, games, a children’s art competition, and more. Food vendors will also be present There will also be vendors for novelty items.

The highlights of the night will be the 2018 singing contest for Filipinos age 50 and above, and the 2018 Dance Showdown Competition.

This year, community members may also avail of free health and vision screening, blood pressure and blood sugar screening, and free haircuts. These services will only be offered during the day segment of Pistang Pinoy.

Pistang Pinoy will take place on Sunday, June 10, from 7am to 10pm, at the Marianas Business Plaza. Philippine Independence Day itself will take place on June 12.

According to UFO president Marlon Regaton, the flag-raising ceremony will be held on June 12 instead of the Saturday before Pistang Pinoy to honor the actual 120th Philippine Independence Day.
