The 9th Annual TanHoldings Tennis Classic that will kick off next week will again feature off-island players.

Tournament coordinator Lydia Tan said two junior players and five adults from Guam, two from Hong Kong, and three from Japan will compete in the Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association-sanctioned event that will run from Nov. 24 to 26 (Week 1) and Dec. 1 to 3 (Week 2).

The opening week of the TanHoldings Tennis Classic, which is also NMITA’s first offering for the 2017-2018 season, will have games in the juniors singles and doubles and mini tennis (10-and-under). The juniors events (both singles and doubles) are divided into five eight groups: U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18.

Interested participants in Week 1 of the tournament have until this Friday to register. Entry fees are $20 for singles and $15 per person for doubles. Once the registration forms are turned in, tournament organizers will post the draw on Nov. 21.

NMITA junior ranking points will be at stake in the first tournament of the season and the ranking points will determine the CNMI players’ chances in representing the islands to the North Pacific Regional Championships.

Meanwhile, for Week 2, players can enter the men’s and women’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles 3.0, 4.0, open, and over 40 divisions. The same registration fees are in effect, while deadline for submission of entry forms and payment is set for Nov. 24. Draws will be available by Nov. 28.

Registration forms and fees can be turned in to Peter Loken at Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan courts; Jeff Race at Pacific Islands Club court; and Dong Min Lee at Kanoa Resort.
