11th PIC Duck Race is postponed to March 2
The 11th Annual PIC Duck Race has been postponed and moved to March 2 due to inclement weather. Ticket sales are still open until March 2 or until they run out. The race will take place starting at 6pm in the PIC Lazy River.
The race, sponsored by Pacific Islands Club Saipan, was originally set for Feb. 23 but strong wind gusts and heavy rain may be a big hindrance in the outcome and fluidity of the race as the ducks might be blown in all directions in the Lazy River.
“We have not experienced it [heavy rain] before, therefore we will take no risks. We want this event to go as smooth as possible,” said Dennis Tababa, SEA director.
Ticket sales are still open until the day of the race, March 2, or they all sell out.
“It is sad to announce that after 11 years of the PIC Duck Race, this will be the first time that the event will be postponed. Safety and security of all our guests and visitors is very important to us.” said Gloria Cavanagh, PIC general manager.
Event manager Reymark Castro is reminding the public that they may begin to use their duck ticket discounts at the Magellan Restaurant. “I believe a number of duck buyers have begun making reservations at the Magellan Restaurant and avail of their 25-percent discounts. Rest assured that we will honor them,” Castro said.
The beneficiaries of this year’s duck race are the Commonwealth Cancer Association and Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts.
