With one juror failing to attend, the eight jurors did not deliberate yesterday in the ongoing jury trial in federal court of businesswoman Jung Ja Kim’s racketeering lawsuit against attorney Ramon K. Quichocho, his wife Frances, his law firm, and their Karissa LLC company.
Saipan Tribune learned that one juror got into a car accident and failed to show up for the jury’s supposed fourth day of deliberations yesterday in the U.S. District Court for the NMI.

Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona met with the parties’ counsels at 8am to see if they could continue the deliberations with or without one juror.

The eight jurors were not allowed to deliberate and were later excused for the day when it was clear that one juror could not make it to the court.

Attorney Robert T. Torres, counsel for Kim, said he has no details about the accident.
The incident involving one juror is among of a few unexpected events that caused the trial to drag on. Recently, Frances fainted and was taken by an ambulance to the hospital shortly before the continuation of her cross-examination. The trial began last Feb. 3.
