A driver was injured after a four-vehicle accident along Chalan Pale Arnold Road or Middle Road in front of the former H Mart in Gualo Rai yesterday afternoon.

The male driver of a 1996 Ford Aerostar van was injured on his left arm and was taken to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment, police said.

The other vehicles involved were a white 2013 Toyota Prius, a red 2005 Suzuki Grand Vitara, and a white 2014 Toyota Corolla.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Travis Hurst said DPS Dispatch was notified of a vehicular crash that occurred in front of the former H Mart along Middle Road at 4:39pm.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they saw it involved four vehicles, including the white Ford Aerostar that was resting on its left side. The Ford Aerostar was blocking the northbound lanes of traffic.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel arrived and brought the injured driver to the hospital.

Hurst said investigation showed that the Ford Aerostar van was traveling on the innermost southbound lane when it hit the rear of the Suzuki Grand Vitara.

As a result, the Suzuki Grand Vitara crashed into the rear of the Toyota Prius, which was stopped in traffic.

The impact of the collision caused the Ford van to tip on its side onto the northbound lane. As a result, the Toyota Corolla crashed into the Ford van.

Hurst said no one was issued a traffic citation as investigation was still ongoing as of yesterday.

The accident snarled traffic in the area for several minutes.
