Barring a monumental collapse or its players just decide not to show up next week, PTI Jam Shooters will be crowned champions of the 2006 CNMI Billiard League Spring Season when the pool competition awards its top achievers in May 17.

Jam Shooters virtually locked up the title after its 9-6 win over Ballers II at the Shooters Sports Bar & Grill last Wednesday night, giving the team 111 points for the season, a score almost beyond reach of second-place teams Hyatt Pomec and Destroyers.

To their credit, though, Hyatt Pomec and Destroyers tried their best to keep up with the pacesetting team as they scored 7-5 and 7-6 wins over Los Cabos and Pool Junkies at the same venue, respectively, which drove their aggregate totals to 102 points.

The only other match that was played Wednesday evening saw Navy Hill Boys sweep the floor with cellar dweller Ballers, 10-1.5, at Corner Pocket.

Heading into the final week of the competition, Los Cabos is a mere half game behind Hyatt Pomec and Destroyers with 101.5 points, followed by Pool Junkies with 93, Navy Hill with 84.5, Ballers II with 81, and Ballers with 69.

Jam Shooters is made up of practically the who’s who in the island’s billiards scene, namely Jerry Soriano, Rommel Crisostomo, Senen Pangilinan, Rowell Mariano, Erwin Gomez, and Joey Lucido.
