2 arrested for alleged pot possession
A motorist and his passenger were arrested for alleged possession of marijuana and for traffic offenses along Beach Road, Chalan Laulau Wednesday morning.
Paul Lisua, 31, and Vicente Teregeyo, 29, were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
In addition, Lisua was detained for traffic violations. He was also served a bench warrant for failing to pay a traffic citation in 1997.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Ken Concepcion said that, while traffic officers were conducting a Selective Traffic Law Enforcement near the Quartermaster intersection, they observed a green car that suddenly entered the highway.
The car almost collided with a northbound vehicle. Police officers pulled over the car along Beach Road near Megabyte.
Police officers approached the driver, later identified, as Lisua and informed him that he did not yield to right of way.
The officers smelled marijuana and instructed Lisua to step out from the car. Teregeyo was Lisua’s passenger.
The officers then searched the car with the consent of Lisua. They found a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana on the floor mat at the rear passenger side and in the compartment behind the passenger’s seat, Concepcion said.

Overstaying tourist arrested
Immigration agents arrested a tourist who allegedly overstayed for almost two years on Saipan after he was pulled over for a traffic violation, during which he tried to run away.
The Division of Immigration filed yesterday a deportation case against Zhijian Feng, 49, a Chinese national.
Immigration investigator John Peter said a police officer called Immigration for assistance on Tuesday after they arrested Feng for traffic violation.
Peter said the police officer stopped Feng’s car for traffic violation, but the respondent fled the scene.
Feng was later arrested. When the respondent failed to show any type of identification, the officer sought Immigration’s assistance, Peter said.
Immigration found out that Feng entered Saipan through a short-term tourist status on April 27, 2004 that expired on May 27, 2004.
Peter said the tourist has no pending Labor case and has overstayed in the CNMI for one year and 10 months now.
Feng was brought before Superior Court David Wiseman for a bail hearing yesterday afternoon.
