It’s spikes, spiral, layers and hair extensions that are making heads turn in the CNMI as the latest hair fashion and trends wash up on the shores of the islands.

According to hair consultant Sisi Chen of Sisi Beauty Salon, the CNMI has embraced the Oriental look that is influenced mostly by Chinese and Japanese tourists and Japanese nonresident workers in the CNMI.

Chen said most of her clients—locals, Americans, Chinese and Japanese—have gone to her salon either to have hair extensions and layers for women, or spike and spiral hair for men. She said that highlights are the most common treatment she has been doing for her clients.

“It’s fashionable now to have these hairstyles in the CNMI,” said Chen, adding that this trend adds to the tropical look for men and women, especially on the islands.

For kids, she said, majority of parents prefer to have their little girls with a layered and curled hairstyle.

Sisi Beauty Salon is located at the ground floor of the Joy Hotel at the back of the DFS Galleria shop.
