Da Place Sure Shots dominated Round Two Hustlers in the marquee match-up of the Banzai Division, while VFW Fotten Gaga II reclaimed the solo leadership in the Tapochao Division Tuesday night in the Budweiser SBA Open 8-Ball League.

Playing at home at the Da Place Sports Bar, Sure Shots started lethargically after Senen Pangelinan and Luis Fajardo dropped their singles matches against Jerry Soriano and Nolan Cultura of Hustlers.

They, however, rebounded nicely when Jojo Talibong and Frank Pangelinan took care of business against Joey Lucido and Mario Diola then finished strong when the partnerships of R.J. Mascarinas and Pangelinan and Talibong and Fajardo bore fruit and swept the doubles against Round Two’s Soriano and Diola and Lucido and Cultura for a 4-2 win.

The win improved gave Sure Shots a comfortable lead against Hustlers, 33-15 to 30-18.

USSP Fotten Palau, meanwhile, scored the upset of the evening when it turned back sister team USSP Dreams, 4-2, at their home digs at USS Peleliu Club.

Leading Fotten Palau (13-35) to the victory were singles players Chris Clarson, R.E. Rengiil, and Taylor Watanabe and the doubles team of Watanabe and John Mongami. Dreams (20-28) squeezed out wins from Rick Elefante and the pair of Edward Armia and Marvin Cabo.

Meanwhile, Wild Wild West’s loss was Fotten Gaga II’s gain, as the erstwhile co-leaders went their separate ways in the B division.

Fotten Gaga II (30-18) went up half a game against Wild Wild West (29-19) when the latter beat VFW Warriors, 4-2, at VFW Post 3457, while the former was only able to log a 3-3 tie against Godfather’s What Doin’ at Wild Bill’s.

VFW Warriors returned to the cellar after the loss with a 15-33 record, while What Doin’ kept pace with the leaders with a 28-20 win-loss mark.

The only other match in the Tapochao Division Tuesday evening saw Jewel Night Shooters beat Vargas Hot Shots, 4-2, at Jewel Club. The win boosted Shooters’ record to 25-23, while Hot Shots fell to 17-31.
