The Department of Commerce has set up what it calls as a “one-start” business office as part of its goal to cut through the circuitous process of establishing business in the CNMI.

Acting Commerce Secretary James Santos said it is called “one-start” rather than a “one-stop” business office “because it’s the start” of a process.

He said the office is located at the Joeten building in Dandan. It is near the Registrar’s Office, Treasury, and business license office, which are all located in the building.

“We set it up there because these offices are right there,” Santos said.

He said the “one-start” office provides necessary information about business application in the CNMI.

“It directs prospective applicants,” said Santos.
