Richard Dela Cruz was a one-man wrecking crew on Saturday morning as he held the second place McDonald’s squad hitless in a complete-game shutout from the mound and hammered away with key hits at the plate for Kagman 1-2-3 in continuation of the Saipan Little League Baseball Association at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Dela Cruz was dela-cruisin’ as he fanned eight would-be hitters atop the hill while cranking out a pair of doubles and driving in a run on the other side of the plate for the homesteaders.

Kagman also enjoyed success utilizing their new weapon Marsnjo Wabol, who drove in two runs with a double to finish 1-for-2 on the day, while all-around star Ignacio Benavente went 1-for-2 with an RBI single that cam during the six-run first inning.

Kagman took control of the game early by putting up a half-dozen runs in the first inning and never looked back. While Dela Cruz was pitching a gem, his hitter added a pair of runs in the second and one each in the third and fourth before the umpires invoked the 10-run mercy rule.

Patriots 9, Twins 1

The undefeated Patriots continued their winning ways on Saturday as Thelma Mizer’s squad of flag wavers toppled the As Matuis Twins, 9-1, at Tan Ge Field thanks in part to double threat Brian Camacho.

As a pitcher Camacho fanned 10 and allowed just one run off of four hits through six innings, while picking up a bat to swat a double and scoring a run. He was a force on both sides of the plate, but Camacho got help from his catcher, Tony Salas, who smacked a pair of singles, a double, and drove in one run.

Third baseman Jeremy Rabauliman was perfect for the Patriots, as the slugger went 2-for-2 with a double and an inside-the-park homerun.

Pirates 11, Red Sox 10

The Red Sox were on the losing end of another heartbreaker as Jesse Yamagishi’s walk-off double in the bottom of the six completed an impressive rally that gave the Pirates another win when A.J. Taitano crossed home plate.

Trailing 9-1, the Pirates fired off four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull to within four runs of the Sox before taking the lead with a five-run spurt in the fifth. The Red Sox later tied the game in the top of the sixth, but Yamagishi’s double gave the Pirates a much needed win in Saturday’s final contest.

Yamagishi went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in while Taitano smacked a single, a double, and a three-bagger on the day.

JUNIOR LEAGUE
Pepsi Pirates 9, Fielders 5

The Pepsi Pirates put four runs on the board in the first and second innings and never looked back as they flogged the Fielders, 9-5, at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

Donovan George went the first three and two-thirds for the Pirates on the mound before Ofero Taitano closed out the final three and a third by giving up a run and fanning four.

Utility infielder and power hitter Eric Tenorio provided a punch at the plate with a single and a double to finish 2-for-3, but George aided his own cause with a single, a double, and four runs batted in for the Pirates.

Outfielders Josh Jones and Clyde Sablan each pitched in singles at the plate to help seal the deal for the ‘Rates.

BIG LEAGUE
Ol’ Aces 11, Falcons 5

Shane Yamada set them up and Jesus Iguel knocked them down as the Ol’ Aces shot down the Falcons in continuation of the SLLBA’s Big League action at Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field.

Yamada went four innings on the hill allowing four runs off of five hits while Iguel cleaned up the final three with a run off of five hits as the Aces improved their posture in the standings.

Second baseman Jesse Borja smacked a single, a double, and drove in a pair of runs, while first baseman Nunu Kapileo went 2-for-4 with two base knocks and a pair of ribbies on the day.
