Public hearing on four Senate bills set for tomorrow
A Senate panel will hold a public hearing tomorrow on four different measures currently pending in the Upper House.
The Senate Committee on Health and Welfare, led by Rota Sen. Paul A. Manglona, will conduct the public hearing at 9am, April 11, 2006, at the Senate Chamber in the Legislature Building on Capitol Hill.
The measures to be discussed are Senate Bill 15-15, S.B. 15-26, S.B. 15-36, and Senate Joint Resolution 15-2.
Manglona asked several government officials, including Public Health Secretary Joseph Kevin Villagomez, Finance Secretary Eloy Inos, and Special Assistant for Management and Budget Antonio Muna, to be present at the hearing.
S.B. 15-15 seeks to require insurance coverage for individuals with diabetes in the Commonwealth, while S.B. 15-26 would exempt nurse practitioners from the government salary ceiling.
S.B. 15-36 would mandate that insurance of CNMI government employees provide for coverage of chronic orthopedic deformities and blood and blood derivatives.
S.J.R. 15-2 requests Washington Rep. Pedro A. Tenorio to seek the assistance of Guam Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo and Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services administrator Mark McClellan to include the Commonwealth in the Medicare program utilizing qualified Philippine medical facilities for medical referral patients.
