Two geologists from the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, Virginia started work this week on a new geological map of Saipan.

David Weary and Bill Burton will be working in cooperation with the Water Task Force and the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to identify potential new sources of ground water on the island.

This weeklong visit marks the beginning of a project to revise the existing geologic map that was published in 1954.
