CREES Open House a success
The Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Service declared its Open House on April 5 a success.
Acting director Margarita D. Tudela said she is “very pleased” with the successful turnout and made it very clear that this was the result of the hard work put in by acting Associate Director Ross Manglona, main coordinator Joanne Ogo and NMC-CREES volunteers Cathy Bowen, Kelvin Aldan and Alex Martin.
“Our program people were around to answer questions pertaining to the programs that they are handling, the EFNEP/FSNEP did food demo and at the same time were doing several presentations,” she said.
The Livestock Program did a PowerPoint and video presentations on Dry Litter Waste Management, the 4-H/Youth Development opened enrollment for 4-H club membership and at the same were recruiting Adult Volunteer leaders to help out the many youth activities.
“The aquaculture program had a display of shrimps and tilapias and had one of their staff available to take interested individuals for a tour in our nursery, the CRD program had educational handouts on Youth Money Management and Legal Aspects Facing Older Adults in the CNMI and our Entomology program had variety of insects displayed and I must say that their display attracts so many elementary to college age students and I just hope that at least one or better yet 20 of them will become an entomologist in the future,” Tudela said.
She thanked NMC president Tony Guerrero, COMPASS dean Eric Plinske, NMC-CREES Advisory Council chair JM Guerrero, and the NMC community for all their support. (PR)
