Superior Court Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama has ordered the Department of Public Safety to arrest a convicted robber who failed to appear at a court hearing.

Lizama directed DPS Commissioner Ernest Mark Williams to pick up T-Knight Sanders Sasao and bring him to the court for bail hearing as soon as possible.

The judge imposed a $2,000 cash bail for Sasao.

Sasao did not appear during a review hearing Thursday afternoon, prompting the judge to issue the bench warrant.

On April 11, 2002, the defendant pleaded guilty to robbery, resisting arrest, and conspiracy.

The court had imposed a total of two years, six months, and 15 days jail sentence on the defendant. Sasao was placed on probation and directed to follow many conditions.

Court papers said that on Sept. 5, 2001, Sasao and co-defendant Cornelle Church robbed and assaulted Guohong Tao.

Church was also subsequently arrested. Last March 2, 2006, Lizama also ordered DPS to arrest the defendant for not appearing during the review hearing. (Ferdie de la Torre)
