Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration-CNMI Task Force arrested yesterday a woman who is allegedly engaged in selling crystal methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan.

Julita A. Sablan, 35, of Tanapag, was arrested for alleged distribution of a controlled substance. She was brought to the U.S. District Court for the NMI yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing.

The DEA-CNMI Task Force agents, with the assistance of the Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Bureau’s Thief Apprehension Select Coalition operatives, also seized many appliances and other items during the raid at Sablan’s house.

The confiscated items, including six TV sets, were seen being processed yesterday afternoon by police officers outside the CIB office.

CIB chief Maj. Edward H. Manalili refused to comment about the raid and the seized items.

A DEA-CNMI Task Force member stated in court documents that their confidential source managed to purchase $200 worth of “ice” from Sablan at her house Tuesday shortly before noon.

The agent said they sent their confidential source to Sablan’s house at 11:05am and after a few minutes the source exited the residence.

The agent said the source proceeded to DEA’s pre-arranged meeting location where the source then turned over the “ice” that was bought from the defendant.

Judge Alex R. Munson set the preliminary hearing for April 12 and appointed a counsel to represent the defendant.
