2006 Liberation Day Queen Royal Court now opens
Application for this year’s Liberation Day Queen Royal Court is now open for aspiring queens and candidates in the CNMI who are between ages 15 to 22 years old.
The 2006 Liberation Day Committee said interested individuals, groups, or organizations could pick up application forms at the Saipan Mayor’s Office in San Antonio. They can also contact Queens Committee officer Fe Camacho at 234-9272 or 234-9797 for more information.
Candidates for this year’s Liberation Day Queen, aside from the required age bracket, should be a resident of the CNMI, single and never been married. She also has to possess good moral character and must be in good health.
The committee said the deadline to submit application forms is on April 14 at the Saipan Mayor’s Office.
Earlier, Queens Committee chairwoman Laila Y. Boyer said that this year’s Liberation Day commemoration is looking at expanding its Queens pageant candidates to at least 10 to 12 contestants.
Boyer said she is aiming to enlist 10 to 12 candidates for this year’s Liberation Day Queen royal court. She added that the number is just right to complement the 60th anniversary of the Liberation of Camp Susupe.
The Queens Committee earlier said it has been receiving inquiries and interests from the community, adding that callers are anxious to get started for the pageant, which involves ballot selling as part of the criteria for winning the crown.
Committee chairman Tony LG. Cabrera also said during its earlier weekly meetings that the celebration this year would be bigger because it would be the 60th anniversary of the Liberation of Camp Susupe.
Past queens, grand marshals, former marshals, and mayors will be included in the July 4th celebration. Suggested theme for this year is “Liberasion Taotao Marianas,” which will be printed in three languages-Chamorro, Carolinian, and English.
This year’s committee is composed of Cabrera, vice chair Joseph C. Reyes, secretary Angie F. Sablan, treasurer David Attao; queens, Laila Y. Boyer; hospitality and dignitaries, Alice Fleming; solicitations, Joe C. Reyes; and public relations and publicity, Reina C. Camacho.
Other committee chairs are: transportation and logistics chair Frank Tudela; float, parade and utilities chair Larry I. Guerrero; Military and Veterans Affairs special assistant Martin C. Sablan; traffic safety and security Sgt. Joe Flores; site permit and clearance chair Alfredo I. Guerrero; site and grounds layout chair Lars Palacios; concessions chair Mona T. Rebuenog; entertainment chair Joe Limes; and beautification chair Rick Taisacan.
