The San Antonio Sixers II put up an explosive first half and held on to defeat the Matansa Sparks, 46-23, in the ongoing 2006 Island-wide Village Youth Basketball League at the Garapan Basketball Court Tuesday evening.

The San Antonio boys were red hot from the start as the two Marks—Palacios and Norita—each drilled in two field goals to fuel a 14-2 run in the first eight minutes of play.

Unfortunately for the Sparks, the Sixers II were just getting started as the team from the south continued to wax hot from the field and doubled up their opponents, 16-8, to take a commanding 20-point cushion at the break, 30-10.

The Sparks were finally able to match up against the Sixers II in the second half, however, they saw their deficit grow by a point at the end of the third quarter, 17-38, as Josh Duenas punched in six points to help the Sixers outscore the Sparks, 8-7.

It was cruise control from there as the Sixers II had an easy time closing out the bout for the 23-point victory margin.

Palacios led the Sixers II with 10 points, while Josh and Jose Duenas pumped in eight points apiece.

Dave Jones and Brandon Camacho paced the Sparks with eight and six points.

Sixers II 43 – Palacios 10, Josh Duenas 8, Jose Duenas 8, Ecalnea 4, Norita 4, agtarap 4, Manaluz 4, Sambile 2, Ano 2.
