Six apply for CDA executive director position
Commonwealth Development Authority board chair Tom Glenn A. Quitugua welcomes the governor’s new board appointments, citing the need to “go back to regular work,” including the need to hire a new executive director immediately.
Quitugua said six people have turned in their applications for the CDA executive director position, which was vacated by Maria Lourdes S. Ada who resigned from government work last November.
Since Ada’s departure, the board assigned CDA loan manager Oscar Camacho to assume the post in an acting capacity.
Also, Quitugua said that the board received two applicants for a comptroller position.
“We have to hire people but I’d wait for the administration to come in. I’m not arguing with anybody. I just want to do things properly. It’s not a defiance of their authority; it is to uphold my duty as a board chairman until such time that my replacement arrives. I’ll be out soon—by May this year,” he said.
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial had asked CDA board members to tender their resignations immediately so he could make his new appointments to the board.
Only four of the seven board members have complied with the governor’s request. Quitugua and members Manny Sablan and Antonio Borja have remained.
