This morning scores of future football stars will run the Garapan Elementary School soccer pitch for the preliminary round of the Duty Free Shoppers Galleria Cup Soccer tournament.

The action gets underway bright and early at 8am as the girls from a number of the CNMI schools look to advance to the next round. The tournament spans the better part of the day but will come to a close well before sundown.

Last week teams from Garapan Elementary School, Gregory T. Camacho, Tanapag, San Vicente, San Antonio, Dan Dan, Koblerville, Kagman, William S. Reyes, Grace Christian Academy, Saipan International School, Whispering Palms, and Tinian showed up for the boys tourney at both the Garapan pitch and at the American Memorial Park in what Dale Roberts calls “The largest All Schools soccer tournament ever on Saipan.”

The championships will be decided in two weeks on Saturday, April 1.
