Tourist hurt in jetski accident
A female tourist was injured during a jetski accident at a beach in Garapan Wednesday morning, the Department of Public Safety said yesterday.
The victim, a Japanese, suffered laceration and contusions below the right knee. She was treated at the Commonwealth Health Center and later released, according to DPS spokesman Ken I. Concepcion.
Concepcion said that, based on the DPS Boating Safety’s preliminary investigation, there were four Japanese women involved in the accident, but only one was injured.
The spokesman said it was the jetski of one of the victim’s companions that accidentally struck the victim’s jetski from the rear.
As a result of the impact, the companion’s jetski almost completely went over the victim, Concepcion said.
Boating Safety officers and medics responded to the scene at 9:40am.
Concepcion said the officers and medics observed several Asian women standing by the counter of Amigo concession booth and the victim was lying on a beach mat.
The victim was still conscious and had a two-inch open wound right below the right knee.
Police said a CHC doctor stated that the victim’s injuries were not serious.
