Marianas High School announced that MHS teacher Dr. Cahs J. Algaier has been selected for inclusion in the 10th edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, 2005/2006.

Citing correspondence received from Parke H. Davis, the Who’s Who chairman for National Academic Affairs, MHS notes that the Who’s Who publication stands as “indisputable testimony to the value of outstanding teachers” and that candidates for inclusion are nominated by “high school and college students who have been cited for academic excellence themselves” and who are invited to “nominate one teacher from their entire academic experience.”

Dr. Algaier teaches Advanced Placement Literature and Advanced Placement World History at MHS. He has been instrumental in creating the Advanced Placement program at the high school and has served as a co-director or director of the CNMI’s Advanced Placement Summer Institute, held every summer at MHS, since it was established in 2001. Marianas High School currently offers nine Advanced Placement courses; those courses are AP Language, AP Literature, AP American Government, AP U.S. History, AP World History, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Physics, and AP Studio Art. MHS plans to offer additional courses in AP Computer Science and AP Chemistry after the 6th Annual CNMI AP Summer Institute is completed this July.
