Disaster relief supplies that were among those stolen during a burglary at the Emergency Management Office’s storage room on Capitol Hill were found in Koblerville Sunday night.

The Department of Public Safety said yesterday that police received a call at 8pm about a camping equipment that was found at the old air strip.

DPS spokesman Ken Concepcion said police responded to the area and recovered six camping tents, 12 Coleman stoves, 11 Coleman lanterns, six first aid kits, seven gas cans, and two fire extinguishers.

Concepcion said investigators believe that the items were part of the boxes of disaster relief supply packages that were stolen from EMO’s storage room that was reported on Feb. 3, 2006.

“The police are asking the public if they have any information about the crimes or any other crimes to call 664-9042 or call the Crime Stoppers at 234-7272,” he added.

On Feb. 3, EMO acting director Gregorio A. Deleon Guerrero reported to DPS about the break-in that occurred at their storage room, which used to be occupied by the Marianas Public Lands Authority.

The disaster relief packages, worth $800 each, were reportedly among the 130 boxes donated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency when a supertyphoon battered the CNMI sometime in 1998.

Police have recovered most of the stolen items, but as of yesterday no one has been arrested yet.

Detectives are eyeing three men behind the burglary.

Sources said at least two suspects, including an ex-convict, are local residents of Koblerville. The third suspect is said to be a Palauan.
