Dandan eked out 59-58 victory over the favored San Vicente to finish Bracket B with a 3-5 record for sixth place in the nine-team  field. Despite the win, Dandan is already out of the running for the playoffs, as only the Top 4 teams will advance to the next round.

San Vicente is still in the fight for a playoff seat, as it holds a 4-2 card for third place, just half a game ahead of Morales and one win up against fifth placer Gualo Rai/Blue Haus (3-2). As Lito/Chow Queen (5-1) and Chalan Kiya/Loving Hands (5-2) are assured of the first two playoff berths in Bracket B.

Dandan bowed out of the competition with a victory after getting double-figure contributions from three players. Daniel Dela Cruz led Dandan with 17 points, making seven of them in the crucial fourth quarter, including the team’s last four points. Marvin Ibanez chipped in 15, while Ramza Tenepere and Nestor Taracatac contributed 11 and 10, respectively.

Don Brennan had 18 markers for San Vicente, which missed important free throws in the homestretch, allowing Dandan to steal the win.

Both teams started slow with San Vicente having a slight edge after the first period, 11-8. Then Ibanez picked up the scoring for Dandan, nailing nine in the second quarter, but a late triple from Ricardo Cruz helped San Vicente keep the lead at halftime, 28-25.

In the third period, Dandan managed to grab the driver’s seat, 46-45, with Taracatac making eight of the team’s last 10 points in that canto. Teams traded baskets in the fourth canto, but Dandan came out on top in the end behind Dela Cruz’s last two baskets coupled with San Vicente’s misses from the stripe.

Chalan Kanoa 69, Chalan Laulau 46

Chalan Kanoa dominated Chalan Laulau/AON Insurance from start to finish en route to a 23-point win.

The victory improved Chalan Kanoa’s record to 5-2 for third place and strengthened its chances for a playoff seat in Bracket A. Chalan LauLau dropped to a 2-4 record and sixth place and is unlikely to march into the next round.

Chalan Kanoa limited Chalan Laulau to 13 points in the first half for the easy victory. Chalan Laulau scored only two field goals in the first period, while Chalan Kanoa made 15 markers for the early double-digit lead.

By the end of the second canto, the advantage ballooned to 29, 42-13, as Chalan Laulau continued to struggle on offense, while J.R. Mina led Chalan Kanoa’s breakaway, tallying seven points in that quarter.

Chalan Laulau failed to make a headway in the second half, while Chalan Kanoa slowed down a bit, but the big lead in the first half was enough to propel the latter to a victory.

Sonny Lerio paced Chalan Kanoa with 16 points, while Ramil Santos and Mina finished with 14 and 13, respectively. Ezra Caro and Romy Bernardo also had double figures with 10 markers apiece.

In the last game of the day, San Jose/CP Repair won over Triskelion, 58-46.

It was a non-bearing game, as both teams are already eliminated. San Jose notched its first win, while Triskelion is still winless in seven games.
