Registration open for Flame Tree arts fest
The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs will open booth registration today, Feb. 24, for the 25th Annual Flame Tree Arts Festival slated for April 27-30, 2006, at American Memorial Park on Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.
The Flame Tree Arts Festival is the largest annual arts and culture festival in Micronesia, featuring live performances and booths for artists to display, demonstrate and sell traditional crafts and contemporary artwork. This year’s celebration will feature an opening ceremony on April 27 and the annual Parade of Cultures featuring ethnic costumes on April 29 through Saipan’s main tourist district. All regional artists are invited to perform and display their art during the event.
Registrants will have the opportunity to select the location of their booth at the festival on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications must be submitted with payment to reserve a booth. Registrants must also provide a copy of their business license, non-profit certificate or by-laws, and valid health certificate if food will be sold.
The registration cost for the weeklong event is $600 for business, $300 for non-profit organization, $100 for traditional and visual artists and $50 for information.
