Cal is February Queen of the Lanes
Ron Cal managed to pocket extra cash Monday night after being crowned champion of the Pepsi February Queen of the Lanes Tenpin Bowling Tournament at the Capital Bowling Center.
Cal competed in only the second day of the two-day tournament but it was enough as she claimed the title, finishing with a total score off 743 pins for an average of 185.75 pins per game.
She kicked off her campaign by knocking down a respectable 170 pins, then caught fire and left her mark on 233 pins. She slowed down a bit on her third outing and dropped just 161 pins before closing with 179 pinfalls.
For her part, Emi Williams’ performance on Sunday enabled her win second place as she connected on 726 pins for an average of 181.5 pins per game.
Williams improved her performance as the evening grew older. After settling for a pedestrian 150 in her opening game, she kicked her game up a notch and saw her ball rattle down 182 pins. Improvement continued to come her way as she hit 190 pins in the third game, and closed strong with 204 pins in her final game.
Finishing in third place was Marie Manansala, who drilled 141 pins in her first game before sizzling for 214 pins and closing with 194 and 149 pins for a total of 698 pins. She averaged 174.5 pins in the four games.
Gina Sablan capped the prizewinners’ list as she drilled 690 pins for fourth place—149, 202, 160, and 179 pins.
For her win, Cal went home with $70, while Williams and Manansala pocketed $30 and $20, respectiveluy. Sablan won $15.
